Doug's Corner of the Internet
April 23 Final got a chance to play with my new cameraThis weekend the weather and work finally co-operated and I was able to head out and try out my new camera.
Went to a couple of locations, first was Britiana ship yards in Steveston and then to Iona park just north of the Airport. January 12 Comet McNaughtJust added some new pictures to by photo album after a long absence. This time the subject is Comet McNaught that brightned unexpectly to be visible with the naked eye.
I took the pictures from your office here in Richmond which was nice considering that in the last few days we've had a major snow fall and cold snap. I wasn't really looking forward to standing out in the cold taking these pictures!
You can read more information about the comet at the Space Weather web site.
The camera I used was my new Digital Rebel XTi with a 70-300mm zoom lens. April 17 Fishing...Another series of pictures; this time my parent's cat and the fun you can have with a fishbowl.
Originally taken back over Christmas, I had lost the originals and was just able to now recover them. :-)
January 15 More picturesIt's been a while since I've posted any pictures so I thought I'll go through my collection and start a new theme. This time some pictures of beaches and things associated with the oceans.
Enjoy
And one more thing, someone asked about my camera; it's a Cannon Rebel Digital 35mm 6.3MegaPixel. The pictures were taken either from a 18-55mm or my 70-300mm zoom. November 14 Firework picturesJust added some pictures I took a while back of the firework show we have here in Vancouver in August. The pictures are ok but I am not happy how this site compresses the images.
The white squares you see are artifacts introduced by whatever they are using to make the images smaller; don't like it very much :-(
If anyone happens to know how to get rid of this let me know. August 11 Moon - Jupiter ConjunctionJust added some new pictures that I took this Tuesday (Aug 9) of the moon and Jupiter. You can see where the cresent moon is, Jupiter is just to the upper left.
In the wide angle shots you can also get a glimpse of Venus just above the horizon near the right side of the pictures. July 13 PicturesJust thought I'll post some of the pictures I've taken over the past few years. What you see now is just a sample of what I could get ahold of.
